| School Patrol Equipment and Supplies The Transportation Department provides school patrol equipment and supplies FREE OF CHARGE to all Saint Paul public elementary schools, non-public schools located within Saint Paul, and charter schools transported by the District. The cost of this equipment and supplies is funded through the Transportation Budget and is not supported by any outside organization. Building principals or Patrol Supervisors may order equipment by submitting a School Patrol Order Form by mail or fax (265-0910) to the attention of Mark Vogel.
The Transportation Department manufactures School Patrol flags from basic components. Flags with damaged poles  can be repaired by contacting Mark Vogel at 696-9600. School Patrol flags should be replaced when they show significant wear. School Patrol flags that are replaced must be returned to the Transportation Department for dosposal. Under no circumstances are intact flags to be placed in, or by, trash containers where children could find them and play traffic control.
School Patrol equipment is very expensive and schools are requested not to order unnecessary equipment, or to "stockpile" supplies. Equipment may be ordered by faxing the School Patrol Order Form to Mark Vogel at 265-0913. School Patrol Flags
School patrol flags are made of reflective blaze orange material. They have a school stop sign on both sides. These flags are used by school patrol members to stop traffic so fellow students can cross the street safely. |
School Patrol Vests
School Patrol Vests comply with OSHA standards for reflective traffic control vests. The |
School Police Patrolman Badges
School police badges are used to identify school patrol members. They are silver in color and say "Saint Paul School Police" on them. They are pinned onto the outside of the vest and have an identification number on them. |
School Police Sergeant Badge
The Sergeant badge is used to signify that this student has shown leadership ability. These students usually receive extra training by the building patrol supervisor. |
School Police Lieutenant Badge
The Lieutenant or Captain are the students assigned to help the building patrol supervisor at a school. They act under the direct supervision of the patrol supervisor . They assist the other patrols in doing the best job possible. These students in many cases have attended the legionville school patrol leadership training camp. |

Patrol Members Belt (Reflective Orange) The orange belts are used in school by patrol members to signify that they are a patrol member. The reflective orange belt replaced the leather belt that was worn by patrol members up until 1975. All patrol members assigned to corner duty must wear the orange vest while out on their assigned corner. |
Patrol Ranking Officers Belt (Reflective White) The Patrol Ranking Officers Belts are reflective white webbing material and may be issued to Patrol Members with the rank of Sergeant, Lieutanant, and Captain. |
School Patrol Poncho
School patrol poncho's are used by patrol members when they are performing their official duties. They are orange in color and water repellant. Ponchos are designed to be worn over jackets to assist the school patrol member in keeping warm and dry while out on their corner when it is raining. |
School Patrol Head Bands
Headbands are used to help keep school patrol members ears warm. These are recommended for use in cold but not freezing weather. |
School Patrol Gloves Knit golves are available to help keep patrol members hands warm while holding a school patrol flag out on their corner. They are a new item this year and are available on the school patrol materials order form. |
School Patrol Stocking Caps School Patrol stocking caps are recommended for cold weather conditions. They are a stocking hat with the school patrol logo on it. They work very well and can be used along with an earband in very cold conditions. |
Hot Chocolate Mix (Winter Months Only) Hot chocolate is available for school patrol members during freezing weather conditions. Patrol supervisors can order hot chocolate and cups starting November 15th and it is available until the end of March. |
Styrofoam Cups for Hot Chocolate These 8oz cups are available for use with the hot chocolate and can be ordered starting on November 15th. |
