Daycare Transportaton Day Care Transportation Daycare transportation is provided in those situations that are authorized in Minnesota Statutes and District Board of Education Policy. Minnesota Statutes allow, but do not require, a public school district to designate a licensed daycare, residence of a relative, residence of a person chosen by the pupil’s parent or guardian, or a school based day care facility that is exempt from Minnesota day care licensing requirements as the legal residence for resident students for transportation purposes. District Board of Education Policy allows transportation for daycare in the situations authorized by statute. Daycare transportation is not provided:
The daycare address must be within the District boundaries, must be within the attendance area of the school, and must be over one mile from the school. If the student's residence is less than one mile from the school and the day care site is over one mile, and is within the attendance area of the school, the parent must complete an Application For Day Care Transportation form that is available from the Transportation Department. Daycare transportation is not provided across attendance area boundaries except as part of the normal desegregation route structure. Daycare transportation is not provided across the School District boundaries, nor may a resident student be dropped off near the border to walk to a day care site that is located outside of the District. It is very important that an Application For Day Care Transportation form be completed for any student that rides a bus from a daycare that is over one mile from school, but who resides under one mile from school. This includes magnet students riding from existing stops. Unless the application is on file with the Transportation Department the District cannot include the student in the annual report to the Minnesota Department of Education. |
