Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Announces Driver Pre-Employment Screening Program

WASHINGTON, DC —The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) today announced that it will launch a new Driver Pre-Employment Screening Program which will allow commercial motor carrier companies to electronically access driver inspection and crash records as a part of the hiring process. The program is expected to begin in December 2009.

Direct Observation for all DOT Return-to-Duty and Follow-Up drug testing becomes mandatory rather than remain an employer’s option.  Monday, August 31, 2009, is the effective date.  Click for more information.

IC Corp announced on June 16, 2009, that it will meet the latest Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Emissions Requirements through Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR).

Percentage of Buses Required to Have Digital Video Systems Increased for 2009-2010

The percentage of route buses, including spare equipment, that are required to be equipped with digital video systems will increase to 10% effective with the 2009-2010 school year.   The percentage of buses that must be equipped with digital cameras will increase with each subsequent year.
